No Fee Worrying
February 22nd, 2011A man said to his friend, “I’m really in trouble. I have a mountain of credit card debt, I lost my job, my car is being repossessed and my house is in foreclosure, but I’m not worried about it!” “How can that be?” Asked his friend. “I have hired a professional worrier, and he does all my worrying for me,” said the man. His friend replied, “That’s fantastic! How much does a professional worrier cost?” “$50,000 a year.” “Wow, that’s expensive. Where are you going to get that kind of money?” The man replied, “I don’t know, but that’s for him to worry about.”
There is a difference between concern and worry or anxiety. Yet, we tend to fall into the “worry trap” and lose out on the joy of the day. That was never God’s intention.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
It seems we have a choice. We can attack our troubles on our own or we can enlist the aid of Heaven. Which do you think works better?
